Clover ......... just thinking about the word and of course the memory comes to mind from childhood ........ find a 4 leaf clover and it will bring you good luck. Another thought is that a field full of clover is not only very green but also great for grazing ....... thereby nurturing and feeding. When looking to this picture too, the clover is playing an instrument ........... and given the positivity of this card ....... surely that means that the music it's playing is going to be "sweet". So going by the words above, surely this should mean that my heart and/or mind will be filled with happy possibilities .......... and that my current circumstances are all good.

Card 2...........will reveal how to handle the energies of Card 1. You either capitalise on it or you change your approach

Scythe ....... "make hay while the sun shines" springs to mind with this card ....... also that of "you reap what you sow", and not forgetting that this is a card of decisive action. If any decisions are to be made, now is the time to do it, although I do note that image-wise ....... the harvest has already been collated and is bundled together.

So how has the week gone? Well it hasn't been what I would call a happy week. Nor has it felt as if Lady Luck has been shining her beaming light down on me! If anything, it's been tense, strange and a right headache. Literally. There has been a stressful situation I've been involved in ........ and this has been ongoing now for almost a couple of months. Other people were involved and it has deteriorated as time has passed. However, what I believe the cards are saying here ......... and it's a message I really shouldn't need the cards for ......... is to have "faith" and believe that everything will turn out ok. Decisions were made quite some time ago and action taken .............. and this past week has seen the results thereof.

Reaping what you sow indeed. And yes .... overall, a very positive outcome

Sun - Sunny, happy shiny week, long days, new potential

These are the keywords I wrote over a week ago on drawing this card And indeed, it was a sunny week .......... especially at the beginning of the week. Temperatures were on the up and after a great weekend, I was hopeful for what the week would bring! So weather, yep spot on. As for the rest of life, I'm now more drawn to the clouds that are floating all around it. It was a very hard week. For reasons that I can't share on this blog, there were a lot of emotions flying every which way, and courage most definitely needed. Perhaps in that regard, this sun card could identify with the tarot version of the same name! Courage to stand up. Courage to heal past lessons. Courage to find out truth.

Tree - Recognise the growth, see greenery, elongate & stretch, drink water, be grounded, root chakra

And all of these keywords I noted do apply. The week did show growth, both of a personal and physical nature. There was also a specific instance of looking at greenery .......... with friends visiting and passing some gorgeous cherry blossom trees! I also managed to get to yoga at the beginning of the week.

As I have previously noted for this card, sometimes we need to step back to see the bigger picture from a spiritual perspective. And then there's also the aspect of health that this card can be identified with. Health was one of those areas that courage was needed, as it can sometimes be hard to try and find out exactly what is going on!

So at the week's end, there has been a lot of sunshine this past week .......... in many different ways, and for those more difficult aspects, I am either ignoring the bits I don't have the full information for at the moment .......... and trying to recognise that there may be a bigger picture for the rest. I must admit to currently finding that more than a wee bit of a challenge right now!

Not exactly a brilliant combination I have to say .......... and I actually made a note of keeping my focus on the positive, not to take any decisions because things will not be quite as they seem, but know that this too shall pass, clouds can be rather temporary in nature. I did wonder however, whether I should keep an eye out for any literal foxes ........ given that they find chickens rather tasty, and if they could get at them in the middle of the night when they're all tucked up asleep, I'm sure they wouldn't be able to resist .......... thankfully, that was not what these cards were talking about.

Clouds

As it turns out, there had been a situation brewing and although I wasn't involved at that time thankfully .......... I had also written in my notes "be careful who you trust this week". With a few weeks hindsight ......... this proved to be absolutely correct. Foxes can't be trusted, they can be devious and snidey ........... even if they present a sleek front! Sometimes, forwarned is most definitely forearmed, especially when dealing with a creature that usually returns to type, even if they try very hard not to!

As regular readers may have seen over on one of my other blogs, time has been in rather short supply, especially at home, which is where I draft my card posts. As well as daily cards, I've also still been drawing my 2 cards for the week ahead ...... and so far they've been very very apt. I'm finally getting round to typing some up!

Week: 15 - 22 March

When I drew this card, I automatically thought of loss yet I wasn't expecting to lose anything .......... no funerals to attend thankfully and although I had a thought about celebrating the end of something, I had absolutely no idea what that could be. I figured I was worrying over nothing and just ignored the cards. I mean, you try and try and try to stay positive ......... look on the bright side of things ........ the last thing you want to do is worry needlessly about yet another form of loss appearing in your life.

I took heart from the second card though ......... I generally view Tree as an optimistic card ......... I mean, regardless of all the crap that generally surrounds it ......... it will keep on growing, bit by bit ......... perhaps not noticeably for a long time, but if you were to disappear for a year or two and then return .......... you'd definitely see a bit of a difference in height, let alone foliage! And what I actually wrote down was *look to the higher perspective* ........... in other words ......... even if there is an ending, there is a spiritual reason/cause behind it, a bit of fate kicking in and you can't be selfish ..... or rather I can't be ......... and have to just let things *be*.

As it turned out, part-way through the week, there was indeed an ending .......... one which had been creeping up and which I'd very successfully ignored .......... unfortunately it couldn't be ignored any more ........... and although there are some selfish *woe is me pity parties* ........ I have tried to focus positively on the reasons for this *loss* and have repeatedly told myself not to be a selfish cow! I have to say, sometimes this is easier said than done!

A love-filled week

I never got round to doing this spread last week, so thought I'd better do one now, before I forget again! This is for the week of 1st to 7th March ......... looks good!

Heart ....... love, unconditional love, emotions, heart, energy, oneness, union, growth, peace

I love this version of Heart. It's just so peaceful and feels to be have a lot of kindess within. I think of meditation when I see this card because not only are her eyes closed, but she is emanating rays of light in all directions. The golden halo around her head is also similar to that depicted by images of saints and is also known as the christ consciousness crown chakra energy (I believe). Given the way the flower grows and blooms from her feet, I also see a connection to Gaia. Flowers abound too so lots of growth and life here.

So, with all that, I guess I will be meditating regularly this week, the overall energy is going to be great .......... make that fantastic LOL ......... and I will be (or should be) looking and reacting to everything from a place of love (which I try to do, but naturally don't always succeed!). As for state of my heart ....... brilliant card to get ...... yay .......... and for state of mind ........ well I am a wee bit preoccupied with the subject of love.

Looks like I'm not only going to be wearing my heart on my sleeve, but all over me this week!

Rider ...... rider, postman, short distance travel, something new, speedy, eagerness

Well I'm guessing then, that given such a wonderful card to have for energy this week, I should capitalise on it! I will be travelling short distances this week, but nowhere unexpected. I'm not planning on going horse riding for some time unfortunately, so I'm guessing that this is going to be a great week ....... it will whizz by ....... and if anything new does pop it's head up (or invite me along to anything) then I should say yes, and rather quickly!

Rather looking forward to this week now, what a fabulous combination!

Given how well, the 2 card spread worked for last week, I've also used it for my week ahead, 15th to 21st February :)

Cross ......... *EEK*, pain, faith, belief, trust, religion, spiritual service, karma

I think this card gets a rather bad rap at times, as it's seen as one of the negative cards in a deck. Saying that though, don't all cards have a positive and negative side? So while my automatic reaction is one of squeaking in fear ....... I'm going to try and look at this from a positive perspective. Lessons to learn is one possibility ......... as is connecting to a spiritual plane. I also get this when I need to have more trust and faith that everything will work out either positively ......... or as it is meant to be (which can mean it's going to be a bit of a rough ride, but eventually I'll realise it's for the best). The clouds in the sky here are rather dark and gloomy ....... and I know that as the week begins, I'm going to be worry about some stuff. I'm asking my guides for their help with this so that's definitely a trust issue!

I also see Karma here as in you reap what you sow, and given the clouds from last week ........ I know that I will be having a *back-to-work interview* after being off work sick last Friday. I always worry about these things especially as my sick record is the only thing I've ever been pulled on. This goes back over many years, so I now automatically worry, even while actually being off ill. Ridiculous really, because not only am I not the only person that's been off with this virus/bug ....... but when you're ill, you're ill. Not a lot you can do to avoid it at this time of year when everyone around you is sniffling and sneezing ........ throwing their germs around, whether it's on the train travelling to/from work or in the office where the air conditioning is circulating those germs around, let alone when people you talk to and sit near are sharing their germs as well!

Bear ........ grin and bear it, strength, cold, isolation, Guides

I have had this pairing come up before for one of my Guides, so while I do think it's a case of believing in the positive side of things, of getting on with it and pushing through barriers (great, I'm not expecting to feel great or fully recovered at the beginning of the week then - yep, am typing this up on Sunday - post scheduling is fab!) ....... there is also this issue of trust. Trust my Guides to help me through, believe that they are supporting me ........ that I am getting better, that I've looked after me and that I'm protected ......... and if I want to act like a bear with a sore head, take myself off to a quiet spot where I'm not going to annoy anyone else! Yep, definitely looks like the virus is reducing down to normal *cold* symptoms too!

Have to say, not the most inspiring pairing for the week ahead, but some good advice to keep myself to myself! Let's hope the end of the week is going to feel better than the beginning!

Rest & Recuperation

Last week I decided to try out Madam Seaqueen's 2 card spread with the Piatnik, since I've not only not been using it that much lately, but also wanted to do something other than the Thought for the Day. Unfortunately I ran out of time, energy and enthusiasm before getting back to looking at these, but today they really struck me for how perfect they've been for the whole of last week! I drew them on Monday 8th Feb, and while I felt yucky, I thought I was doing good and resisting falling ill to the bugs that everyone and the world seem to have had!

This past week has definitely been stormy and unclear. Monday was yucky, Tuesday was worse and when a bad bad headache started and which lasted until Saturday. Migraine territory, so something new that I'll associate with this particular card from now on. Turbulence yes ....... as in rough seas and upset stomach, sometimes a side effect of migraine. By Friday I felt so rough there was no way I was going out the front door (or downstairs for that matter).

House ............. home, rest, rejuvenation, recluse, family, quiet, growth

And looking back at this card I have to laugh .......... how perfect for getting better. Apart from Tuesday night at college, and going to work .......... I managed to make it through most of the week until Thursday, when come lunchtime, I was on the train home. And there I have stayed ....... at the time of typing this up it's now Sunday afternoon and while I'm feeling much better by comparison, I still don't feel great. Back to work tomorrow, and hopefully I'm over the worst of it. Home is not only where the heart is, but it's where we feel safe ......... our sanctuary. The perfect place for peace and quiet, sleeping lots, and wandering around in your pjyamas! Oh and I mentioned growth .......... well look at the greenery on this card ......... healing for sure :) Put it this way, when I want to get better at home, it's this version of the House card I want, not the Bartschi!

Thought I'd post an update just to show how accurate the spread was for this past week, it's surprised even me!

Now I know I said they were perfect for all the things that had gone wrong, but since they were drawn for the future, how did that turn out (although am posting this late Saturday night)?

Predictions:

Small positive changes, at home - ensuring I've had reading time every evening this week, I'd let that slip a few months ago

Niggles/breakdowns - yep, the hoover went even worse, if I could bang into anything I have done, kettle now leaking and this even extends to things falling on the floor when they've been put on the side safely!

Minor worries with friend which will work out - now this one I did wonder about and was the most *predictive*. Had some worries with a friend over photos put on Facebook. You know the kind of thing, go on a night out and the photos are up before you know it. Including the ones where your dress rides up and unwittingly exposes cellulite for everyone to see. Cue frantic texting and comments asking for them to be deleted. Clover proved correct, they were deleted, a positive outcome!

One thing I have noticed with a line of 5 is the way they can pair up. I draw mine randomly and place them in an arch, so this would make Clover the high point ....... that's how I get the overall positivity and that everything will work out well :)

That then leaves cards 2 and 4 on the same line ........ in this case Child/Dog. My friend is rather petite when stood next to me :) so small friend!

And the last two cards, 1 and 5 - House/Mice ....... there goes your home worries :)

Am curious if anyone else lines them up and reads them this way?

New year, new week, new intentions

A new year, a new week and new intentions. Now, I don't do New Year resolutions. I gave up on those a long, long time ago. I never got round to keeping them all and in the end, instead of being motivating, what they did instead was de-motivate me. Depress me. Sadden me. Help to make me feel like a failure. All because I'd put pressure on myself to do what I thought I should be doing, or attempting to do, that year. Yep, there's that awful word that I try to avoid like the plague these days .......... *should*. Yuck!

However, I have been musing away over the Christmas break as to what changes I wish to make this coming year, along the lines of *intentions* :) ......... and this week's cards seem to be saying the same thing, because when I flipped the deck over after choosing my cards ........... there was the Ring hidden away!

The centre card is Clover ............ good luck, fortune, a *yes* as it were from the universe ....... and one of the cards that I think of as exuding positivity! You know the kind of thing ........ that person who always seems to do the wrong thing, but no matter what, they'll come up smelling of roses? ........ this is the card for me in that regard. Though with the Piatnik, I do tend to think of a lavender field instead or roses! So, regardless of what may go *wrong* this week ......... all in all, it's going to be a good week, and I can handle whatever Life throws at me! And if things happen that I don't expect, it's all going to be for the greater good .......... *gulp*.

So combining Clover with the left side of House/Child ......... I see small changes being made at home, positive changes ........ which is a huge relief, because over the past two weeks, I have had too many things go wrong ....... including two emergency call outs for suspected gas leaks, electrical repairs which revealed extremely dangerous wiring among other things ........ and even electrical equipment breaking down .......... yep, Christmas Eve and baking .......... and even the whisk decided to give up the ghost, entailing a last minute dash to the supermarket else Christmas Day dessert would not have been made!

And moving onto the right side ............ combining Clover with Dog/Mice ........ well those two cards could very well describe all those little annoying breakdowns of trusted (old) appliances (I'd had that whisk a bloody long time!) ........ so there may be a few more niggles *eek* .......... however I think this is telling me that there will be some minor worries in connection with a friend, but to try and not worry because it will work itself out!

Work...............A Lot of Money.....Good Start in Love

A lot of money to win is the full title of the centre card and it indicates the potential for gain and positive results.............not necessarily anything to do with money.

My first thought was that what you get back is commensurate with the work you're prepared to put in.

The man in the Work card is digging ................turning over the soil to prepare the ground in which he will grow his crop and later reap the harvest.

It's the beginning and whether you're planning a garden, a project or moving into a new relationship the process is the same. It's this preparation that lays a strong foundation for future growth and success but with a head full of dreams and visions of what might be this groundwork can often seem too much hard work, too monotonous and dull to spend much time on.

A good start in love...............a new relationship or partnership . Here is the ever faithful dog again reminding me to be patient. A strong and lasting relationship has a foundation of friendship, mutual love, trust and respect and these things take time to build.

Be willing to work at preparing the soil properly and the results will be worthwhile.

Today the Mountain moves to centre stage.............an indication of obstacles and blockages, of something big standing in the way and slowing progress. Of what?

For me the Fish is seldom only about money and I prefer to think of it in the same way as the Gypsy Money card................as any flowing exchange of energy that brings wealth and abundance. Here the Mountain is like a dam stopping this flow and preventing a person from experiencing the beauty of the Bouquet.

It could be two people.......

Fish is the King of Diamonds.
Bouquet is the Queen of Spades.

But he lived on the morning side of the mountain
She lived on the twilight side of the hill.

Separated by a great divide.
Distance may keep them apart, a different language or culture, issues that create barriers between people like religion that make it seemingly impossible for them to be together.

In an existing relationship the distance is usually caused by a breakdown in loving communication. Different opinions, different points of view, stubbornness and refusal to budge..........or as so often happens an inner block that makes it very difficult to express oneself on an emotional level so its easier to retreat into a still and distant silence.

The more I think about it the greater the range of possible scenarios............but what if this is only one person.

Fish swim in water which represents the emotional/spiritual/intuitive and it is the Pisces card ...........Bouquet can mean spiritual and emotional healing.
Does the Mountain become an emotional block that's preventing........connecting joyfully with another, or expressing one's creative gifts and talents, or healing or simply experiencing feeling happy.

The Mountain relates to the head which makes it more likely that the mind is the problem.
The way of thinking is imposing limitations that are slowing progress.
Nothing is more limiting than holding on to a self perception of who you have been in the past.......not being able to move beyond that or see that the healing has been done.

For example a Fish person might say.................I am very independent, I like my freedom, I'm materialistic and my energy goes into business and making money. I have no time for relationships and sitting back and enjoying the simpler pleasures of life.

Or.............I have co dependency problems. I like someone else to lead the way, someone to lean on and support my efforts. Hopeless at taking the initiative myself.

The ruler of the Mountain is Saturn, the planet who puts before us the obstacles from which we have the opportunity to learn our life lessons. In overcoming these challenges we find the courage to face our fears, we grow in strength and slowly we change............so slowly we sometimes don't recognise it.
Try writing a short but honest description of who you think you are and then read as who you are not. It might surprise you!

The Mountain will challenge............it may block, delay or slow but it's not unsurmountable. With a little bit of effort and a lot of patience it can be conquered.........if you want what's on the other side enough!

Thinking about.....

The Gift has a lovely positive energy.............giving and receiving.........it brings something beautiful into our lives to be loved and treasured.

Baby is a child..............our grandchildren truly are a gift that bring great joy into our life. This weekend we had the pleasure of having our eldest grandson stay overnight. No longer a baby , at 16, he's growing into a fine young man .............and a busy one which means we don't see him as often as when he was younger.

Gift also refers to the gifts and talents we have to share with the world. Luke is one of New Zealand's most promising young golfers. He was gifted this natural ability and parents willing to pour time and money into his development............he is passionate about his sport and has a strong desire to be the best he can be. All of these things are obvious when you talk to him but what most people don't realise and won't see are the most precious gifts he was given which are his true strength. Commitment, patience, focus, the willingness to sacrifice and work hard through the long monotonous hours of everyday practice. Without them none of the rest would amount to anything.

Food for Thought. This aged person can learn from reflecting on the attitude of this young person which is probably why he was sent to us this weekend in the first place. The darkness and confusion of a last week has passed and some clarity gained which has given me a new perspective and opened the way for the birth of new ideas .

Mothering.............looking back at the commitment sentence I have to smile for they definitely are the qualities a mother needs to raise her children and I've had plenty of experience there.
I guess creative babies are no different from real ones............they need the same nurturing and loving attention on a daily basis.

In the Dark!

Constancy...........remaining constant, unchanging, staying the same........some things never change.

Whilst I have gone awol from blogging recently I continue to work with my cards daily and if there has been a constant presence then it's been the Officer and the repeating card suggests that up until now I hadn't quite got the right message. Yesterday I focused on his monocle......an indication of defective vision in one eye...........a one eyed view. Looking at Constancy today that eye seems to confirm this is on the right track.

Jealousy is a card of negative feelings and thoughts motivated by fears and insecurities. The man in the image is looking at the couple and his interpretation of what he sees is formed by the feelings generated by the scene. His vision is not balanced and certainly not very positive.

He now has choices how he will deal with the situation. He can turn his back and walk away pretending he never saw it...........he can step out and aggressively attack it head on ........or he can accept that he needs to take the information he's received and find a place where he can quietly and calmly think about it.

Thought advises taking a step back, taking some time to reflect , contemplate and think things through with a clear mind before making a decision.

Constancy is also the card of karma, destiny and the Higher Self. Karmic issues will repeat in life until we learn the lessons needed to overcome them. This gentleman may need to look back at his life and see the times when he's faced a similar situation........think about how he's reacted and responded and if he is stuck in a pattern that needs to change, find a new perspective........a different approach.

Seems as though I need to as well ......if I can discover exactly what the situation is! Decisions and choices makes me think of the Lenormand Crossroads card and I did lay out a Grand Tableau this week so maybe that will shed some light

After having drawn a weekly line of 5 I wasn't expecting this week to be only full of sunshine & laughter ....... and Monday's daily draw didn't let me down with it's accuracy nor how it played into that weekly draw.

Tower ......... Mice .......... Garden
(Base card - Anchor)

Now I know that a lot of people see the Tower as representing something big, and even look to it to represent big buildings and/or business ...... however when I look at this particular version I usually think of either Rapunzel shut up in her tower waiting for the daring prince to arrive ........ or someone who is pretty isolated. Given how high up she is, I also see her as somewhat of a dreamer ......... you know the kind of thing ........ gazing off into distant lands when really she should getting off her backside, down the stairs and out into the real world. Now dreaming is good ........ but we also have to live in reality.

Moving onto the Mice card ........ how appropriate for me with my blog name eh! Mice can also indicate worries ..... and with this version I also see choices .......... they've got a rather large bumper harvest from which to choose a tasty morsel! The fact there are 2 of them is also significant to my day.

And not forgetting the Garden card ......... all is blooming, and she's playing away to her heart's content though I do wonder with this card whether that's a Stork that's just landed in her pond and whether she called him or not!

So how do these apply? Well at the weekend, whilst out at a function with friends I mentioned the idea of going out this coming Saturday night. Due to financial constraints, babysitters and the fact that their partners would be out themselves (on another stag do) it didn't seem that viable. As a result I made other plans with another friend for that night. Monday arrives and so does an email, inviting a group of us out for someone's birthday. And friends had agreed pretty promptly. Actually it's really nice that night has been organised because the birthday girl had had to delay her plans for the recent hen do (she organised it for the hen), but given I also wanted to be celebrating my birthday, you can imagine the instinctive reaction of hurt.

Cue me feeling all sorry for myself up in the ivory tower (Tower) regarding the 2 friends (mice) and worrying over whether to broach the subject or not (Mice) and of course the topic was all about socialising (Garden). A self-induced pity party if ever there was one.

And the base card of Anchor? Big (Tower) lessons in overcoming worries (Mice) and following my own path (single woman in Garden) ......... and maintaining that all important emotional security (Anchor), remembering that it's not to be taken personally (my friends wouldn't do that) and indeed ...... as I often say, we choose how we feel ...... so I'd better put my own words into action. A soul lesson indeed (note there are fish on the anchor card).

However, I do wonder if I'll cave in and change my plans as the weekend draws nearer.

It can be quite challenging relating a daily draw to the energy of a single day especially when they look as heavy and depressive as this lot so I wasn't sure at first how to look at them.

The hidden card is Owls/communication and it was through an email from a certain mousy friend - Snake - telling me of her latest big achievement - Tower - at yoga that I found the answer to the meaning of this trio. The focus is on the body and exercise.

I have some niggling pain in my back today - Tower , the result of something I did at yesterday's exercise class and if the Snake is bringing a warning it's likely that I'm placing too high expectations on myself based on what I could do in the past, trying a bit too hard and I need to limit my efforts to within my present capabilities.........slow down and take it easier.

The Coffin brings endings and changes and there's been a great deal of that in the last few years. Unfortunately there was little time for the exercise regime I'd always maintained and I've gone from the once fit, strong and supple snake to a stiff and rigid tower in what seems like a very short time.

One of the less often used meanings of the Tower is referring to the length of life and physically the aging process creates big changes which we have to learn to adapt to and live with. Realising my woeful lack of fitness recently I'm doing something about it and hopefully it will have a transforming affect on my wellbeing but it's not ever going to be how it was once and it's no use deceiving myself into thinking it will be.

And still on the subject of exercise today Hubby and I went walking and turning for home we took a short cut....

With these two cards in combination we now have an authority figure with a great deal of influence betraying the trust invested in his position. If there is a male figure who plays that role in a child's life it is the father.............and not of the priestly persuasion. Unintentional I know but my fathers attitude did set me up for a lifelong struggle with an inability to communicate or express my own thoughts and feelings. Makes sense now of the Vanity keyword........a sort of intellectual vanity that allowed no opposition.

A long time ago.............nice to see that the peacock has made enough progress to be able to see beyond that barrier although I don't care for the direction she is looking. The authority voices from the past live on within ourselves as Inner Critics and Judges and they will surface on occasion with the power to disturb our sense of emotional security and peace of mind.

These cards were drawn for this week so I imagine that having this put before me now means I'll find myself in a situation that will have me hearing echoes from the past. I did a line of 5 for this week with the Sibilla della Zingara in which I simply couldn't see anything relating to the mundane. Then I decided that to look deeper I needed to have a better understanding of the card meanings and this would provide a good opportunity to record them and add my own thoughts. Then I won't have to struggle with translations that often seem as much a foreign language as the original. Beginning today with the centre/3rd card....

Superbia............Pride

Playing card.......2 Fiori/Clubs

The suit of Clubs relates to work, creativity and social activity, education, progress and corresponds to the zodiac fire signs.

The number 2 is about balance, duality, exchange and interaction, conflict and opposition.

The division is symbolised in the card by the wall..............two sides, two points of view, two perspectives.

So I find it strange that the secondary keywords for this card are lust and vanity which seems to place the emphasis on a rather one sided and negative interpretation. The peacock has long been associated with a wide variety of positive symbolism including immortality, grace, beauty, vision and protection.

To be proud of oneself, to take pride in one's appearance, home and family, creative and work achievements is how we all should feel. Its shows a healthy sense of knowing and valuing one's worth. That is balance.

Imbalance can swing two ways................when pride becomes excessive it turns into puffed up self importance, thinking one is 'better than' and looking down on those who are assumed to be 'less than.' It's flaunting and strutting one's stuff and blowing your own trumpet so loudly it's deafening.

At the other end of the scale are the ones who don't even know they have a trumpet let alone how to blow it. Whose lack of self worth creates a wall of reserve or introversion that prevents others seeing who they truly are.

Standing alone this card this card is seen as negative. ***A need for greater humilty, for caution and drastic downsizing of behaviour***

I think I'd prefer to see it as an imbalance in the way a person interacts with others...........in their ability to communicate in a balanced way. A problem that needs to be addressed but which could equally apply to upsizing as it does to downsizing.

Much depends on the surrounding cards as to how to interpret.

If the surrounding cards are positive and supportive it indicates **good news, benefits, promotions, new encounters and solutions to problems**

If negative **problems, obstacles, indecision, need for a change of attitude.**

Which is only going to add to the confusion as I have some of both. To be continued........

Zigeuner Gypsy Fortune

The men are out in force today making sure I hear their message loud and clear. If there's one thing these three have in common it's the ability to not let their emotions control their actions.

It's a day when the mind must rule the heart.

The Widower stands as though in thought or quiet reflection. The presence of the Judge suggests he has a decision to make and its important that he takes time to weigh up the alternatives carefully, with impartiality and objectivity, and to consider what the consequences of any future actions might be.

Which was very good advice as I'm very good at following my heart and rushing headlong into things without thinking them through properly and I do have a small decision to make.

The grave beside the Widower represents a part of his life that is now gone............or he thinks is dead and buried but while we still possess memory the past is always with us even if we aren't always consciously aware of it and at any time can rise up and haunt us. Life experience influences our thoughts and actions far more than we realise.

The Widower has turned his back on the Officer...........what is he turning his back on? Self discipline and emotional self control will serve him well today.........but in some way his thinking is limited or restricted .

As I ponder on this a thought floats through my head which gave me the answer. I was thinking how the Widower looked like the defendant in a court room, standing in the dock waiting for the Judge to pronounce sentence. Someone else had the power to make the decision that would decide his future.

An Officer is a person who wears a uniform and lives within a structure of rules and regulations set down for him. He marches alongside lots of other officers wearing the same uniform and following the same rules and commands of those in charge. All very necessary for top performance in their work.

I am not a prisoner in the dock...............nor am I an Officer.
Nor have I ever been very good at independent thinking and finding clarity without my emotions getting in the way which is really what this is all about.

Today I had to look at what was motivating me..........the desire to be in on the action? to wear the same uniform as everyone else? to follow where everyone was going? .............of course and more!

But I also had to look at what the consequences would be and if it would be in my best interests long term and I don't think it would be.
So I'm saying NO.
Although my heart wanted otherwise.

A person who is kind, generous and with a desire to help others .

An opportunity to be grasped.
An indication that going ahead with what one is doing, or plans to do, will have a rewarding outcome.
Skills and talents that will benefit others .
Recognition won after a hard battle.
Fruitful meetings.

The cards on either side of the central one are both common to most of these fortune telling type decks.

Speranza~Hope is about maintaining stability by never giving up believing in the most positive outcome to what one desires.

Amore~Love is emotions, feelings and relationships. He's a baby........waiting to shoot an arrow in a new direction.

The energy of both these cards is neutral and needs the surrounding cards to confirm where that energy is being directed.

Quadri/Diamonds relate to the material world........business, finance, career and employment, possessions, news and travel, change. Both the white apron and the tablecloth in the 8 suggest spiritual overtones to me...............we all possess our share of gifts and talents to develop and use and which ideally will benefit others.

An imaginary reading.....................A caring and generous lady who loves what she does and is perhaps looking to move in a new direction with the hope that what she offers will be beneficial to others.
The Woman of Service indicates that she should proceed.......an excellent outcome, rewards and recognition of achievement but it also mentions hard won battles so the way is obviously not going to be easy.
My feeling is she is too emotionally invested in the 'service to others' bit............if that is the most positive outcome she's pinning her hopes on then success is dependent on knowing she's achieved what she set out to do and that knowledge can only come from others.

Hope is a card which in timing is 'a long time' and results slow in coming. Expectations not met lead to disappointment , a sense of failure and the temptation to give up.

My advice to this lady would be to change her priorities. Go ahead with what she plans but do it foremost for herself.............for her own pleasure and the emotional satisfaction of doing what she loves.
Hold on to the belief that in time others will benefit from her efforts and acknowledge it but don't expect that to happen any time soon.

Madame Seaqueen's 2 Card Spread!

This week on Ask my Cards Mme Seaqueen has posted a 2 card spread which I thought I'd try. It has meanings for both card positions which gives an immediate focus and having only two cards seems ideal for when time is limited.I'm really pleased with the results ........a great little spread that I'll definitely be using often.

Yesterday I drew my 2 cards from the Zigeuner Gypsy Fortune deck.

Card 1...........is the current circumstances you should know about or should be addressing. This card reveals your state of heart/mind.

Malady.................something wrong, not feeling well, mentally stressed or worried, suffering from an internal conflict or even indicating being stuck in a situation not conducive to well being.

I chose worry.............I do tend to 'worry myself sick' when concerned about something wrong with those I love and yesterday I discovered our cat had a nasty infection on the side of his face. Obviously the result of a wound suffered when he and his brother had a bit of a territorial scrap soon after he returned home it's actually not that bad and is healing well but it triggered my usual fearful imaginings.

It wasn't until later I realised that this was simply a typical incident that created a response in myself that is definitely an issue...........a state of feeling and thinking in which I still appear to be stuck. Considering how I've recently been patting myself on the back for the progress I've made in becoming a 'cup half full' person its quite depressing to discover that this behaviour is so ingrained I do it without thinking.

I imagine the worst............... I expect the worst. If there are prizes for negative thinking then I deserve a big one.

Card 2...........will reveal how to handle the energies of Card 1. You either capitalise on it or you change your approach.

Desire.............a big contrast between the women in these two cards. This lady isn't going to lie around thinking dark and gloomy thoughts. She actively ensures that she has the brightest and most positive outlook on the situation. While gaining what she desires may be out of her control she probably strongly believes in the theory that we manifest what we think and acts accordingly.

She imagines the best.............she expects the best and more than likely she often gets it.

I'm going to have to be more alert to the signs that reveal I'm slipping back into negative thinking because its not good for my peace of mind or heart........take a leaf out of this lady's book and make sure I'm focusing on the positive.

Now given the base card of Letter, I had thought that written communication was going to be of some importance during the day ...... but quite what turned up was so NOT what I was expecting. And even with the many and extreme varieties the combination could have given if I'd sat and worked at what was available still wouldn't have clued me in ........ probably a good job else I would never have left my phone turned on.

Written communications indeed ........ text messages! And just look at this Whips card ........ oozing sexuality yet given the Mice card before ........ would seem to indicate nervousness or worries. Ship not only means a journey overseas but something that's at a distance.

A normal day ......... until early evening. A text message arrives with no name from a number not recognised. A reply sent asking who it was from. The name could have been from either a male or female ........ and a possibility it was from a girl at Night School that I've not heard from (though I hadn't given her my number) or even one of my friend's husband on a wind up.

The upshot? Someone had sent a text by mistake to my phone, they even called to apologising for bothering me ........ the accent was quite a broad northern one and to be honest he sounded really gay ....... and then another text ....... apologising for the bad chat up line ............ what? cue some serious squeaks!!!!!!!! Oh dear!!!!!! So I tried to joke it off and said good night ........ I figured that the person may be lonely or alone ....... so no need to be nasty or cruel ...... be polite. Only he then tried to crack another *funny*. I had to ignore it at that point and figured that was the end of it. Cue Tuesday morning and by the time I'd got to work a message had arrived in the inbox with an abbreviation of my name ......... that I don't like! I'm taking it as a sign and swiftly sent a reply back saying good morning but specifying not available. Strangely not heard anything back since.

I bet you can hear the sigh of relief from where you're sat reading this post! I guess you just gotta laugh at some things that happen in life :)

Sibilla Della Zingara.........I first saw these cards on spiritsong's blog The Card Lover and it was love at first sight. Beautiful images and that gorgeous yellowed antique look had me immediately crying "I want"

The Sibilla decks have 52 cards that correspond to a playing card deck but while some of them include a playing card inset this one has an unobstrusive suit letter and number on the left border which I think is much nicer.

This is my first draw........what message does the Sibilla have for me today?

Riunione/Reunion.........8 Fiore/Clubs

A very positive card............victory , success and realisation of dreams. A new and positive beginning. Coming together with others who share similar interests.

A reunion is a return to a situation after a period of separation.

Sospiri/Sighs...........6 Picche/Spades

Hope. expectation, waiting..............the doubts and uncertainties, the patience and strength needed to cope with such times. Sea journeys. A long awaited arrival.

Dispiacere/Sorrow..............1 Picche/Ace Spades.

Sorrow, bad news, despair, misfortune, depression, mental confusion.

I instinctively want to read these from right to left and quite a tale they tell. High drama........the stuff of great romances from which one could write a blockbuster novel.
Heartbreak to Happiness...............the lovers torn apart, despair and heartache but never giving up, holding on to the slim thread of hope through the long years of separation..........until one day the long dreamed of miracle happens and the beloved returns........reunion! Don't you love happy endings.

All three cards have a high emotional energy and there are many similarities between the two spade cards. I could look at this spread as a comment on one woman's personal development through life. From being totally overwhelmed by negative emotional experiences, rejection, loss , expecting the worst from people........progressing to becoming stronger and have a more hopeful and positive attitude ............. a new and happy beginning in relationships.

Just two of many possible scenarios but oh dear, naughty me! This is all wrong, isn't it.

These cards are not meant to be read from a spiritual/psychological perspective or to muse on the meaning of life.
These cards are meant to be read in a mundane and earthly way.

Says who!!

These are the opinions I keep reading but today I will politely say I beg to differ. Traditionally this type of deck may have been read in a mundane way because that is how the people of the time chose to do it. It's a long time ago and I doubt there was the interest in individual spiritual and personal development that there is today so it probably didn't occur to anyone to go beyond the mundane. I don't believe that because that's the way its always been done then that's the way 'it's meant to be'.

Now if I was to let my imagination fly and become really fanciful I would say the message the Sibilla is sending me today is saying " How sad and despairing I have been for so long having my face shoved into this 'mundane'stone but I've never given up hope that one day some people will come along who have a different vision and will reunite me with my spiritual side".

I for one am happy to oblige!
